Cowboy Christmas

Today we took Gary to a Christmas party sponsored by the special needs bus drivers and the professional assistants who help the kids who ride the bus to school. the theme was Cowboy Christmas and this was the 14th year that the drivers have held this party for the kids. Gary's Grandpa Rhino, Grandma Rosemary, and Uncle Tom met us at the party where Gary played games, ate a turkey dinner, saw Santa, and got a present. He had a great time.

After the party, Gary and I came home and Jennifer went to spend the night in Parker.

Gary and I spent a quiet afternoon here. I did have to set up the outside snow globe again as the wind had unplugged it and pulled up most of the stakes holding it down. In the evening we went out to do a little shopping and also went to Cici's Pizza for dinner. Gary ate six pieces of pizza, three cheese and three cheese and spinach.

We are now at home, both playing on a laptop. I'm surfing the web and Gary is playing a Lego StarWars game.

Only two weeks until Christmas. Good night all.

Christmas is in the air

Gary is very excited these days. He has been able to see Santa twice now and asked for the same thing. He wants Leggo Star Wars III game and on video. Only problem is that the Wii game wont be ready until Feb. 2011. But Santa will find plenty of fun things that will hopefully keep the magic going. Gary has lost another tooth and got a visit from the tooth fairy. He is a huge bundle of excitement these days and doing great at school. The teachers tell me how much they just love Gary. They describ him as very entertaining and life with him is very interesting. I had to laugh, I said that was how every described me. Yep mama's proud. Never a dull moment in our home.

I am amazed every day at how well Harvey and Marcy are doing. Marcy with her early stage of Kindeny Failure and Harvey with Inflamator Bowl Disease. Harvey has medication wich he takes as well as any cat does. Yea that makes life even more interesting. But both of our furry babies are doing well. They still seem to be enjoying their senior years, being brushed several times a day, food, love and even St. Francis to look over them. All the other cats are pampered and playing with the Christmas tree.

I have started to do volunteer work at The Wildlife Experience which is a museum I really enjoy. I read stories to young childern and do puppet shows. I have been working the special events for Christmas too. Lots of fun. I just need a little recovery time sometimes after a long shift. But really enjoy the children.

Love for now

Happy Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving day is coming to a close. My in-laws came over for a Thanksgiving lunch of turkey, cranberries, corn, green beans, corn bread muffins, blueberry muffins, and mashed potatoes. We also had a relish tray with olives (black and green), sweet pickles, dill pickles, carrots, cucumber, and red peppers. Finally we had pumpkin pie for dessert (no one had any room for the apple pie).

It was a very nice time and Gary ate his fill. He is almost over his could (the doctor said is is probably croup and may last a bit longer). He helped me in the kitchen by counting how many potatoes I had peeled and chopped for the mashed potatoes.

The last thing I have to do is to take the turkey stock I am making off the stove and then clean my big stock pot.

Stay safe and warm everybody.

Weekend before Thanksgiving

It has been another lazy (or almost lazy) weekend here. Saturday morning we all went and saw the new Harry Potter movie. We were supposed to be in a sensory screening (not as loud, no advertisements, lights up, etc.) but the theater did not have one. We went to a regular screening instead. Gary did really well and we all enjoyed the movie. After the movie we went home for lunch. After lunch I took a little nap. After my nap I put up our outdoor Christmas displays (Carousel, North Pole fire truck, penguin, and Santa).

Today I am doing some laundry, cleaning off the junk table, and watching the Saints game. Jennifer and Gary just finished watching an Avatar: The Last Airbender Book One marathon.

I went shopping on Friday for Thanksgiving dinner and have everything except for desserts.

New water heater

I stayed home from work today so I could be here for the plumber to install a new hot water heater. Our old tank had a leak so it was time for a new one. We are getting a tankless water heater which is supposed to be more efficient and cost less in utilities. With the $600 coupon and $1500 federal tax credit it brings the cost to be close to conventional tack hot water heater.

Gary is doing well. He was up early and then in his "I'm not going to school" moods. He is like that every time he sees me at home on a school day. Of course he really likes school and being with the other kids.

Another weekend winding down

Well another weekend is coming to the end here. It was fairly quiet. Saturday we all went to see Mega Mind. It was a fun movie. We all really liked it. Sunday was just a quiet day at home. I did get called into work for a couple of hours in the morning. Gary played his Wii.

Tomorrow starts another week of school (and Gary has his Monday appointment with Dr. Pat).

Pumpkins

I stayed home today to be with Gary on his last day of spring break. We watched TV in the morning, went to Chik Fil-A for lunch and then went to Albertsons where Gary picked out our Halloween pumpkins.

Fall Break

Gary's fall break only has a few days left. He has enjoyed staying home with Mommy but we are looking forward to him going back to school. He did have a 24 hour bug last week that had him throwing up in the night but he is better now.

Gary picked out his Halloween costume the other day and is going as Darth Vader. He likes Halloween and is looking forward to trick or treating.

First Sunday in October

It was a quiet day her today. Jennifer is fighting a cold this weekend so she slept most of yesterday and a lot of today. But she seems to be feeling better. Gary ran a fever last night but he actually some iboprofen last night and is feeling better. We spent a quiet day mostly inside (he played outside for about 30 minutes) and then went to bed early.

I got to watch the Saints game on my computer so I was happy.

Homecoming Parade

Gary and I went to a homecoming parade this morning. It went down University Blvd which is just around the corner from us. At the parade we saw his first grade teacher Mrs. Baskall. He had a good time at the parade and got some of the candy that they were throwing of the floats.

Now we're at home watching the new Penguins of Madagascar.

Wednesday at the Carnival

We all went to the Highlands Ranch High School homecoming week carnival tonight. They had some bouncy castles (one in which Gary spent most of his time) and big "hamster" balls that a person could fit into to race (Jennifer raced a couple of times). Gary did really great at the carnival and was a super listener.

Sunday

It's a quiet football Sunday here. Gary and I hung out this morning going to Falcon Park and then having pizza for lunch. After lunch we went to Sam's Club to get laundry detergent and some snacks for Gary at school.

When we got home we watched some football. We had the Saints on the laptop and another game on TV. Unfortunately the Saints lost (boo). Now were in the basement. Gary is watching the Lego Indiana Jones game video clips and I am watching the Broncos play.

This week should be fairly quiet. It is homecoming week for the Highlands Ranch High School so we will go to the parade on Saturday. They also have a carnival day that we may go to.

Gary goes back to school tomorrow

Today was a pretty good day for everyone here in the KCCH. Gary and Jennifer went to see "The Last Airbender" with Uncle Tom. Gary likes to pretend that he is air or water bending while watching the movie.

After the move I met Gary and Jennifer at Fox Creek (Gary's school) were we met with his special needs teacher to discuss the coming year. The special needs team was excited to see Gary. He has grown so much over the summer. After the meeting we went to the school's back to school ice cream social.

We went to Brother's barbeque for dinner and then walked around Park Meadows Mall for a bit.

We watched a little telly and then Gary was in bed and asleep around nine.

Tuesday - School starts in two days

It's Tuesday afternoon and only to days left before Gary starts second grade. Jennifer is napping (she is not feeling well) while Gary and watch Phineas and Ferb. Gary is bouncing to the music and action in the show.

It is still hot outside but at least it is only the low 80s today. We got some rain last night and may get some storms also tonight.

Tomorrow evening we will probably go to the Gary's school open house / ice cream social.

Saturday Night and its almost time for bed

It has been a fun filled Saturday here at the KCCH. Jennifer got up with Gary so I got to sleep in.

I made super easy and super yummy chicken parmigiana with my home-made sauce for lunch.

After lunch Gary and I watched part of the Empire Strikes back. We then went to Falcon Park where Gary played a bit and we walked around and watched some of the baseball games. After the park we went to McDonalds where Gary played for about an hour before we headed home.

After we got home we watched a little TV before we all headed to Sam's club for some paper products. After Sam's we played some more (Gary played on his Wii) before dinner. Jennifer got to watch the new iCarly in its entirety (last night a storm knocked out satellite reception just before it ended).

Gary had a hot dog for dinner and half a chocolate muffin. i had some left over spaghetti and some garlic bread. Jennifer had one of here fresh choice dinners (it was leftover night here). Tomorrow I will probably grill chicken).

At about 8:00 PM Gary asked to go upstairs because he was sleepy. Jennifer had him sleeping in minutes. She went to bed around 9:30. I watched some TV and played a bit on the computer.

And now it is time to go upstairs and prepare for bed. Good night all.

Sunday

Hi All:

Last day of school

Today is Gary's last day of school. He is very happy. There is a picnic planned at the school. So the whole family is going again. It is so cute and so much fun. Gary has learned a lot in school and made many friends. His teacher is going to miss him and the kids. They are soo cute. They all know Gary and me. When they see me it is always Gary's Mommy we helped Gary do this or we were so proud of Gary when he did this. Makes me very happy to be a part of the Fox Creek Family. I am not use to such kindness towards the special needs kids. This is a nice growth and change from the 70's when I was in school. Gary has had some bad days and times with his behavior. We had to make a very tough decision as a family and now Gary is on med. But they seem to be working and my charming son is back.

I am still having good days and bad days. Lucky the thearpy I have been doing is working and the bad days are farther away. But when they come they keep me from doing anything. Ahhuug. Wish I was all healed and could be the great mom I want to be. But life is life and not a fairy tale. We have been busy with several differnent meetings tring to get help into the house to help me with this PSTD and Gary.

Gary is in summer camp at our favorite place The Wild Life Experience ( Museum). Then he gets to see Dr. Pat again. I am very happy. Pat was great with Gary and help our family tremodously.

So good plans for the summer. Hope all of you are doing well.

Snow Day 4 Gary's Birthday on Friday

Hi All,

The day started just cold and rainy. Then by 11am turned to snow. Then more snow falling heavly down. Then I got the phone call to come and get Gary. So around noon I went to school and got Gary. Asked him if he liked his birthday present of getting a snow day. He loved it. He was like a snow day finaly I got a snow day. Ahhh like father like son. Ahhhh. I wrote a little poem today so let's see if I can get this to work here we go

Snowy Spring Day

Big soft snow flacks drifting down
To the spring time ground
One inch, two inch, and more
I stay inside nice and warm
Brushing cats while on the floor
Gentle cold snow flacks call for coffee time
And by per chance I will make a rhyme
Upon a blank page like a blanket of snow
I sip my coffee staying warm
Watching the wondrous white show.

Jen Kocal

It worked. I am really learning this computer stuff. Nick will either be very proud or scared. Haha.
We are doing fine. Had a great time with Nicks parents visiting. Was so busy, but tons of fun.
I am resting now. I started to get some shakes but thanks to my new dance therapy I was able to control them and no seizures. Getting 3 weeks now. Yea.
Nick is doing well. Gary is having a great time in school. I need to go my love of my life just got home.

Mom's Weekend Away

Gary had a great break. He got to play Wii all the time. He rode his horse at Hiipo. He tested his limits with mommy and daddy and didn't win. Mommy was very happy to send him back to school this week. I have gotten some house work done. I am also writing on my book that is helping me heal from the PSTD. I am writing about all that has happened. Wrote about some really big memories this week, so also had to write a light harted filler part. It is coming along really well. Have no idea how far my book will go but at least I am healing. The title is Contess Joile's Secrets. Sounds good.
Nick has been working extra hard at work putting in long hours to get paid overtime. He has been a big support for me.

I am going to my parents this weekend for mom's get away. So Nick and Gary get to have another fun filled weekend of guys only. I think Nick is really looking forward to their time together.

Gary has done great in school this week. He is growing so much. He is almost 4ft tall now and still only abut 40 lbs. I don't know why he dosen't weigh more he is always eating.

I am having fun getting in touch with the Italian side of the family. Have made 2 new friends that have family from Petterano Italy. It is fun. Seb is going to teach me Italian and how to make Italian sause. Jo Ann Hall lives near by in Aspen. Should be lots of fun. She has some type of ties to the Bonitatibus family line. I am not sure how she is related yet. We just met on FB yesterday.
So busy times here. Hope all have a great weekend.

Spring Break or is it Snow break

Hi Everyone,
Gary is on his spring break now. First day he got to go to Club 4 Kids his favorite day care place. I had a Dr. appointment and talked about maybe working on writing a book about some of the past issues that have led me to being sick. It is helping me do better so far. I am writing it with romance novel type style. We will see I just follow my creative waves. Still have plans on other paintings and want to do a drawing of an Angle sitting on a tiger. I also really want to take tap dancing lessons. I just need the Community Rec. Center's catalog.
After Club 4 kids we went to Monky Business and played for a few hours then off to home. Then his friends were outside and he played some more. He has had a great time going here and there playing with friends.

Today was a down day we just stayed home and rested. We got some good snow about 8 inches and it was still cold outside. I was happy to stay in side and got some work done on my book and spent time on Face Book where another friend wants 4 of us together to help write a book together. We all said we are in. She has some contacts in NY and I don't mind sliding on the coat tails. Everything is just talk now, not sure where any of this will go. But will have fun finding out. Gary spent the day and night playing on the computer. I got some house work done too.

Nick went to work late and got home at a good time. He missed all the bad traffic and is so good to have him home. I am so happy I married into the Kocal family. I am so blessed in many ways.
Got a good husband and I am not letting him go. So single ladies Sucks for you. ha ha

I still have good and bad days. I had some really bad days not to long ago. But the last few have been really good. Hope this continues for a long time.
Well it is a cold night, I have a warm home and my little sunshine is sitting down stairs admiring all of his games while he slowly falls a sleep. I have taken my medicine and will be ready for sleep soon.

CO weather

Hi Everyone,

Awww Colorado what interesting weather we have. Yesterday looked like a mini blizzard and today was sunny and beautiful. It was still cold vey cold, but the sunny being so bright and warm didn't make it feel as cold as it was.
Gary is growing so much. He has outgrown several of his clothes and lost both front teeth. But by the time his grandparents get here in April his big teeth should be completly in. He still loves all his computer games always playing something. He knows his way around the computer very well, wich is good because no matter what work he grows up to do he will be using a computer for sure. Me I am still learning and having fun. Learning some lessons the hard way, but I am getting the hang of things. I still play on FB. I have been writting more poetry and thinking of trying my hand at writing a story. Don't know if it would ever be published but will get some of my creative energy out. I have not painted in a long time. I still keep telling myself I will paint again. Dealing with to much medical stuff right now. But will find out what is keeping me from painting and the break through and paint again. I need to get back to my friends home where my supplies are .

Nick is doing fine he is working so hard. He is working over time to help pay for all of our medical bills. I am applying for Social Disablity. That will help alot. Just need a few more paper work done then we will see. Also will be fighting with the state of CO for benifits for Gary. I will loose but at least I can say I stood up for my son's rights. I can at least still do that.

Going to spend time with my family tomorrow while Nick is at work. Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

When the Saints Come Marching In

Our birthday plans on Saturday was completly changed thanks to my grumpy son. Well Gary did loose another tooth and had some other issues on Saturday. So we were ment to be home or we would have had a big mess on our hands. I also had a really bad day Saturday.

But Then came magical Super Bowl Sunday! I felt good. Gary was a happy boy playing Wii and watch TV with Daddy. Then Daddy got to nervous and went to the Man Cave. Me and Gary stayed upstairs. Then the Saints went marching in to a big win and Nick was a very excited and happy man. Yea Saints. I was happy because I felt good and Gary had another day of peace.

Today is cold and light snow all day. So just grey and snowy. Gary is on the Wii after doing some reading for me. I got some house cleaning down and getting laundry done. Feel good again today. Of course I slept alot, but atleast I haven't had to walk with a cane today.

Gary's other front tooth is loose now. So he will be singing All I want for my birthday is my 2 front teeth.... Ha Ha.

Have a great week everyone.

The hogs are grounding 4 Ground hog day

I everyone I had a great birthday today. I ate breakfast at one of my fav resturants and these two nice ladys over heard it was my birthday and paid for my breakfast. Just the type of thing I have done myself in the past. I felt great today. I did not start shaking bad until 7pm. I think that is a record for me that I hope to break soon. But the sun was shining it was the perfect temp for me about 40s, and clear skies. I went and bought new clothes for Gary at Kohls and we went to Super Target as a family and bought cup cakes to celerbrate My birthday. Wow what a fun and great day. Now time to get ready for bed. I have a cute boy downstairs that should be sleeping, 2 kitties wondering when they will get their nightly brushing and also why mommy is still on the computer. Good Night all. Sweet Dreams.

Yea Friday

It has been a very long and strang week for me. I am very happy to see the week end. Nick was in one of his rare decluttering moods and got a lot of great work done. I have gotten nothing but some minor laundry done. I have seen so many doctors and talked to so many doctors I should have my own degree. We have the yes your symptons are real to you and I can't help you go to the mental health people group of doctors. Then there is the yes you have been through a lot of stress and have had a lot of trama in your past that explains some symptoms but not all and there still could me a medical physical condition being missed. We are just going forward for now until we can figure out what other tests could be done to shed light on the subject. These strange symptoms can all be my bodys way of finaly griving over deaths that I just dismissed in my past. It could be that I have finally broken down under the presure of the stupidity of our existing health care finascal payment system. The series of no we wont help financial help your son. The uncertiy of the future and the presure of wanting to still be a supper hero mom. But I am just a mom who has a lot of love for her family and wants the best for them.

Tuesday Night

Gary and Jennifer are in bed now (and hopefully asleep). Its been a fairly normal day here.

Jennifer had a dental appointment to get an inlay put in. The appointment was supposed to be on Thursday but the temporary cracked.

Gary had a good day at school. Jennifer forgot so set the alarm so he Gary did get a late start.

He played Wii when he got home (Mario Winter Olympics). But he also ate a pretty good dinner for me (stopping the game without a fuss). He also stopped the game to go over his spelling words without protesting. I love days when he is a good listener.

TTFN.

Monday Night

Just finished working with Gary on his spelling homework. He did a pretty good job once I got him to focus. He is eating his snack now and watching Yo Gabba Gabba. And he is hopefully getting tired.

Jennifer is playing on Facebook and resting. She lost an inlay tonight so she will be going to the dentist tomorrow, she actually already had an appointment on Thursday. The trick is figuring out how she is going to get there since she is not supposed to drive right now.

I'm okay, just busy at work.

Good News and long journey

I have come back from the Neurologist and yes he still believes that I have Post Tramatic Stress Disorder. Because of the new symptoms of falling he is given me a perscription for a walker so I wont hurt myself when I fall. So there is no physical answer for my physcial symtoms other than PTSD. So I guess all these years of fighting with Blue Cross Blue Shield has taken it's toll on me as well as Gary's physical mealtdowns. Now to keep going to my theapist and keep movin forward. Some day this will all be in my past and Iwill be a stronger mom and wife. For now I have to just pray for the healing from God.

I plan on moving forward with my art plans and start painting soon. I will continue to get rest and try to laugh as much as possible. Isn't Laughter the best medicine. Well going to get ready for Gary to come home soon. Have a great day everyone.

Peaceful night at last

Tonght has been fairly uneventful thank God. I am ready for a good night sleep. Will see a neurologist tomorrow to see if he thinks there is something we are missing. I think he will stay with his decission he had last year of Post Tramatic Stress Disorder. So I better get some research out and read up on this PTSD. I don't know. I do know I have given everything up to God and praying for the strength to accept what is going on with me. Then I will have to lean hard on the love I have for my family to get through all of this. A mothers love is suppose to be very powerfull. Hope mine is powerfull enought to break through this difficult time and give Gary what he needs. I just love Gary and Nick sooooo much that I really want to be there and be a good mom and good wife. I want to be a good friend, good granddaughter. I am just tired and frustrated with this physical condition getting in the way of what I want to be. Keep everyone better posted.

Last few days recap. Dr. appointment, Cat Scan on Brain, Long shacking period 911 call, ER visit, EKG good, blood work good, Cat Scan good, Still weak muscles and Neurologist appointment tomorrow.

Is it Friday yet. Am I well yet? Is all of this crazy stuff done yet? I got to be a mom , a wife, a daughter, a friend, a daughter inlaw and a granddaughter. Also need to get paintings done. Can I go on with my life yet? Only time will tell and only God knows what is best for me now.

Love to all

Sunday Night

It's almost time for the KCCH to go off to dreamland. Jennifer and Gary are in bed. I'm watching a little TV before I go upstairs and join them.

Today was a quiet day. I worked half a day and then just spent a lazy Sunday afternoon watching a little TV (with a nap thrown in).

Gary played his Wii and also watched a little TV. It was a down time day.

Tomorrow Gary has a dentist appointment.

Stay warm.

Friday afternoon

Yesterday Gary had a great day at school. He had his first spelling test and only missed one out of seven words. Ohhhh mommy is sooooo proud. He is doing great in math and actually all his subjects. He continues to amuze his teachers and friends and has become a delight to work with. He still has his momments but in school he is doing well. We are very grateful.

I give credit to all the help and therapies he has been taking. I was upset at first because I thought his tennis place went out of business. But sooo happy they just closed one location and left another one open. The other location will actually be more convient for us as a family and I look forward to getting Gary back involved with Tennis lessons. I call it Tennis thearpy. He learns, realionship skills, social skills, builds on his gross/fine motor strengths, how to follow directions, listen to coach/teachers and tennis skills. I feel the lessons are very important for him. Actually equally important as HIPPO and OT. So will have to come up with a time to for him to get back into tennis.

I am doing fine. Working hard on over coming my PTSD and making progerss. It is just such a long road and hard work. But in the end I will be a much stronger person and better mother for Gary, and better wife for Nick. The two most important people in my life. next to my grandma of course.

Nick is doing great at work very busy and they have apporved him special paid overtime which he is doing.

I have some places that may display my artwork. So need to fix my loft into an art studio this weekend. My art work seems to be the answer to many prayers. It gives me peace, sanity and some money. So I need to get busy. Will keep everyone informed on how that goes. I have 3 places right now that are posibilities for displaying my work for sale and in March another Art Show. I have joined an Art movement group on Face Book which has led me to some new friends and given my art work world wide exposure. I don't know what my future holds with my art but everything right now is all positive.

It is another cold day and I am waiting for my adorable family to come home. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

wonder wensday

Hello Everyone,

Here is Tusedays update. Gary had a fantastic day a school and he really enjoyed riding Princess the horse he rides now at HIPPO. His speach is coming along really well and he is turning into a delight at school from what the Teachers have told me. We had a great time Tuseday.

He went off to school fine today but he had to come home from school today. They thought he was sick. Been watching him he did have a very low grade fever 99 but I think he will be fine for school tomorrow. They sent him home because we have given him too much Mirlax. But the rest of the day seems OK. I have let him have lots of rest. Will try to get him up to bed soon. Barb Vail his Special Needs teacher told me he has been keeping very one laughing and they don't know where he is coming up with his whitty remarks. I told a few lines he likes form Phiness and Ferb. So he has been quoting funny show lines and showing his mommys quick whit. Make mommy proud. He also has another loose tooth in front. When I had to pick him up from the bathroom , poor thing kept saying " I am a big boy mommy. I am a big boy. I was too late. I am a big boy." I told him of course he is a big boy and that he was just a little sick and he was OK.

So our Phinneass and Ferb quote for the week is " For Example...For Example... For Example..." while pushing the button on his invisible remote control and pointing it at things. Yep that is my Boy.

Jan. 21 at 9 am will be his new IEP meeting where we will talk about his new goals and next year .

Love You All

It's Tuesday night and I have a couple of minutes before dinner is ready to say hi. We are all doing well. Just trying to stay warm. It is supposed to snow tomorrow and be really cold.
